Applied Ventures, LLC is the venture capital arm of Applied Materials, Inc., (*Nasdaq: AMAT), the global leader in nanomanufacturing technology solutions with a broad portfolio of innovative equipment, service and software products for the fabrication of semiconductor chips, flat panel displays, solar photovoltaic cells, flexible electronics and energy efficient glass. Applied Ventures invests in high-growth, early stage technology companies. We are driven by both financial and strategic objectives, and our mission is to profitably invest in companies that provide a window on technologies that advance the semiconductor and related industries. The fund focuses on companies pursuing technologies and markets that provide a natural extension to Applied Materials' core business in addition to innovations that stimulate the growth of applications for semiconductors, displays and related products and services.

Investment Approach
Our mission is to profitably invest in companies that provide a window on technologies that will move the semiconductor and related industries to the cutting edge. We want to put our vast experience, bright minds, and broad asset base to work assisting young companies with financial promise to formulate marketable ideas from concept to commercialization. Mutual value is created as Applied Materials provides the needed support for portfolio companies from both the financial return and strategic insight provided from distinct value propositions in growing market segments of disruptive technologies.

To accomplish this mission, we manage a program with the following characteristics:
  • We are chartered to invest up to $25M annually
  • We get involved early, focusing on seed stage through early stage companies
  • We will typically invest $250,000 to $3 million per round
  • We co-invest alongside industry-leading venture capital firms and other corporate-strategic investors
  • We are headquartered in Santa Clara, California but invest globally
  • We consider Board representation or Board observer rights on a case-by-case basis
